Opening Diya Ceremony

Traditional Diwali opening · Berlin · Indian tradition

Dance troupe

Diwali means "a row of lights." We open the festival the way it has been opened across India for centuries: hundreds of diyas lit together, a short blessing, and the room settles. The noise of the day drops here, and the festival begins.

Sitar & Tabla Ensemble

Indian classical · India · Berlin diaspora

Traditional ensemble

The sitar has carried Indian melody for centuries; the tabla has kept its time. Together they sit at the top of the afternoon programme: an hour of raga and rhythm that drops the tempo of the festival to zero right before the dance floor opens.

Dance troupe

Berlin's tightest South Asian dance crews back-to-back on the Diwali stage: classical Bharatanatyam and Kathak pieces, contemporary Bollywood choreography, and short group sets built to bring the crowd forward. Bring friends and energy.

Open-mic Bollywood karaoke · Berlin

Live act

A full open-mic Bollywood karaoke stage runs through the middle of the afternoon. The songbook spans old Kishore Kumar classics to last year's Bollywood hits. You sing, we clap, the crowd carries the chorus.

Punjabi dhol drums · Punjab · Berlin

Big drums, tight bodies, huge sound. A physical performance that resets the room between sets.

A rotating stand-up comedy hour with sharp Berlin-based comics: English and Hindi sets, a bit of Denglish, and the kind of jokes only diaspora comedy lands. Sit down between dance sets. Get a laugh in.
